![]() Right below that is a list of everything in your collection, sorted by most-recent additions. The top of the home screen is a lovely carousel of everything you've recently played. It's clean and minimal but at the same time doesn't skimp on the sort of features you'd expect to see in an on-demand music app. If you've ever used the Rdio mobile app, there's a lot that feels familiar here. What I've found is that the spirit (or is it ghost?) of Rdio is very much alive in Pandora Premium - for better and worse.īecherer said that nearly every single Rdio designer came over to Pandora to build the new service, and it shows. I've been testing Premium for the past week or so, to see if these selling points are enough to make the service a viable option. These presumed advantages show themselves in a variety of ways throughout the app. To me, the most important among those are a simple and clean design language and more data about listening habits and how songs relate to one another. ![]() If you're happy with the free, ad-supported tier, Pandora isn't going to stress about converting you to a paid plan, as it thinks it's figured out how to monetize the free tier - something it says other companies haven't done.įor those of us who can't stand ads and need an on-demand service though, how does Pandora Premium stack up? Chris Becherer, Pandora's VP of product, who came over from Rdio, said that the company has identified a few places where it has an advantage over the competition. Instead, it views the Premium service as another option but not necessarily the best one for all users. Currently, only a small percentage of those pay for the $5-per-month Pandora Plus service (which removes ads and lets you skip more tracks and repeat songs), but the company doesn't see that as a problem. Pandora believes its massive user base (80 million per month) gives it a pretty big advantage. ![]() The question Pandora has to answer is not only whether Premium can compete but also whether there's enough of an audience for it in an already crowded market. Both of those rival services have been rapidly gaining subscribers as of late. Today that service is finally ready to launch.Īs announced in December, Pandora Premium is a combination of traditional radio stations as well as an on-demand competitor to Spotify and Apple Music (with the same $10-per-month price, to boot). Eventually, Rdio shut down - but at the same time, Pandora acquired its assets, which the company used to build Pandora Premium. A combination of smart discovery, social features and excellent design (something most music services still can't nail) made it a great option, but it couldn't attract subscribers the way Spotify could. Rdio wasn't the first streaming-music service I used, but it remains the one that I've used the longest. ![]() ![]() ![]() Without the discount, iMazing is still $2 cheaper. The Toyota dealer's maintenance schedule though requires it every 24 months. Toyota only requires changing engine oil and engine/cabin filters until 120,000 miles when spark plugs need to be replaced. I looked into the Toyota manufacturer's recommended maintenance guide, could not find anything about brake fluid change. They actually want to do that every 24 months. Their cars typically do not last for 10 years/200,000 miles though.Īt 36,000 miles our Toyota dealer shop recommended to change the brake fluid on our 2013 Camry, and we did it. Someone mentioned GM, Ford and Chrysler do not require changing brake fluid. Someone told me the brake fluid around the calipers gets really hot and that degrades it by changing the fluid, you eliminate this degradation. So, I think that maybe this would not have happened if I had changed the brake fluid as required. Recently at 200,000 miles, I notice that sometimes the other rear caliper is sticking periodically. I did have a rear brake caliper stick to the point I had to have it replaced. I did not notice it in the manual and it does not pop up on the Maintenance Minder. I have a 2009 Honda CR*V and never changed the brake fluid. So.best to rely on Honda's recommendations over the independent shop. Her car developed a loud whining noise, then the independent shop changed the fluid and, fortunately, it went away. A coworker of mine had an AWD CRV similar to mine, and like you, her independent shop did not recommend changing her rear end fluid. Honda knows these cars better than your independent car place. Oil changes on my CR*V come up every 12,000 miles which is a lot less frequently than other cars I have owned. ![]() For example, transmission fluid and rear end fluid (on AWD models) has to be changed a lot more frequently. If you change cars every 3 years, you could just skip the required PMs, except you do need to change the oil as a minimum.Īs far as not being required by other manufacturers, other Honda maintenance is not required by other manufacturers either. I think you should follow Honda's maintenance instructions if you plan on keeping the car long term. When I used to track my car, I did a brake flush at least annually, because when I needed to stop, I really needed to stop. ![]() For street use I extend my brake flush interval. I use racing brake fluid in my cars, which has elevated boiling point. Not changing the fluid exactly at 3 years will probably not be fatal, but waiting for the brakes to fail before flushing the fluid is stupid. Brakes can overheat and fade from overuse such as descending a long hill or frequent hard use. If the brake fluid gets too hot and boils, the gas in the hydraulic system will lead to spongy brake feel or even brake failure. Water and any other contaminant lowers the boiling point of brake fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water from it's surroundings. The braking system is hydraulic, meaning it relies on incompressible fluid pressure to actuate the pads.
